Frequently Asked Questions

  • Electric Skies is a London-based XR creative production studio specialising in virtual reality (VR) experiences, immersive storytelling, and XR agency services. Founded in 2017, we produce original VR content and partner with brands, broadcasters, museums, and sports organisations to create immersive campaigns and installations.

  • We develop XR experiences for Meta Quest (all generations), Apple Vision Pro, Pico headsets, HTC Vive, and Google XR platforms. We also design bespoke hardware and software setups for location-based entertainment (LBE) environments — including museums, galleries, sports venues, and live events.

  • Electric Skies has won 9 international awards, primarily for Glimpse, our VR short film. Notable wins include Best Immersive Experience at Cannes XR (2022), the VR Crystal at the Annecy International Animation Festival (2022), the International XR Experience prize at Prix Numix (2023), and Best UK Experience at Raindance (2019). See our Awards & Recognition page for the full list.

  • Electric Skies operates out of London, UK, and is registered in Leicestershire, England. We work with clients and collaborators across the UK, Europe, and internationally.

  • We work with entertainment companies, broadcasters, cultural institutions (museums, galleries), sports organisations, and brands looking to create immersive experiences or XR campaigns. Our projects range from standalone VR films and interactive narratives to branded activations and large-scale location-based installations.

  • Production timelines vary significantly by scope and complexity. A short-form VR experience typically takes 3 to 6 months from concept to delivery. More complex interactive productions or location-based installations can take 9 to 18 months. We work closely with clients from initial brief through to final delivery, adapting our process to the project's creative ambition and technical requirements.

  • Location-based entertainment (LBE) refers to VR or XR experiences that are designed for physical venues — such as museums, theme parks, sports venues, galleries, or pop-up activations — rather than home use. Electric Skies designs and builds LBE experiences that can be operated by venue staff, run reliably under high footfall, and deliver a repeatable, high-quality experience to visitors.
